Adelaide will host another major operatic event in 2027, with the State Government confirming support for a landmark production of Bluebeard’s Castle as part of the Adelaide Festival.

Hungarian composer Béla Bartók’s 20th century masterpiece will be staged at the Festival Theatre across four performances on the opening weekend of the 2027 festival.

The production, directed by acclaimed theatremaker Romeo Castellucci, premiered at the Salzburg Festival in 2022.
