Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2024

The Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) has launched its 2024 season. Artistic Director Paavali Jumppanen points to a “a profound concept” at its core – “ANAM Listening”.

“This idea permeates every facet of our offering for 2024, encompassing not only musical exploration but also a dedicated response to contemporary issues that shape our world,” said Jumppanen“From the grand stages of the Sydney Opera House, to performances for local communities in aged care homes, schools and local churches, ANAM is reaching out and sharing the joy of music across Australia and asking our friends to listen.”

In the twin centrepieces of its season, the ANAM Orchestra is set to perform two major concerts. The first brings Finnish conductor Erkki Lasonpalo to Melbourne’s St Kilda Town Hall on 1 June to lead the orchestra through Wennäkoski’s Verdigris, Sibelius’s En Saga, Dvořák’s Silent Woods and Beach’s Gaelic...
