It has been announced that Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt will return to Australia for the first time since 2017 for a series of performances at Adelaide’s Elder Hall, Melbourne Recital Centre and Sydney’s City Recital Hall.

The tour will also feature a performance at the Bendigo Capital Theatre.

In a five-star review, Limelight’s Clive Paget described Hewitt’s 2017 City Recital Hall appearance for Musica Viva Australia as “one of those perfect concerts”.

“It will be a huge pleasure to return to Australia after a break of over seven years,” Hewitt said. “The warmth of the audiences has always touched me deeply, and it will be good to see my many Australian friends and fans again.”

Hewitt’s piano recitals link the compositional magic and genius of Bach, Mozart, Handel and Brahms, through themes of variation, chaconne, and fantasia.

“The program I have chosen includes one of Bach’s greatest hits, his Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue along with two masterpieces of Mozart – whose complete Piano Sonatas I have just finished recording,” Hewitt explained.
