The Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) has today (31 July) announced the appointment of pianist, writer and educator Anna Goldsworthy as its next Artistic Director, commencing in January 2027.

Currently Director of the Elder Conservatorium of Music at the University of Adelaide, Goldsworthy will be the first ANAM alum to take on the role.

“Anna is an outstanding musician, writer, educator and leader,” said ANAM Chair John Daley. “She is a leading public voice for music in Australia. We are thrilled that she is bringing all these talents to lead ANAM and shape the training of our next generation of musical leaders.”

An award-winning pianist and founding member of the Seraphim Trio, Goldsworthy has performed widely across Australia and internationally. As a writer, her debut memoir Piano Lessons won her Newcomer of the Year at the Australian Book Industry Awards and has been published in several languages.

Goldsworthy has also written stage works including the libretto for Graeme Koehne’s opera A Christmas Carol, premiered by Victorian Opera in 2022, she joined violinist Andrew Haveron for an Adelaide festival performance, After Kreutzer (also 2022), and her...
