The 2026 Australia Day Honours have recognised the wide-ranging contributions of a number of Australians whose work in the visual and performing arts has enriched national culture, shaped creative communities and influenced artistic practice from local to international stages.
A total of 949 Australians were honoured this year, with 680 awards in the General Division of the Order of Australia. Sixty-three recipients were cited for services to the arts and culture.

Among the most noted honours was the posthumous Member of the Order of Australia (AM) bestowed on Robert “Rob” Hirst, the drummer, songwriter and co-founder of Midnight Oil. Hirst was recognised for his significant service to the performing arts through music, marking national acknowledgement of his decades-long influence on Australian rock and his contributions to social and environmental causes through art.
Paula Fox was appointed as a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) for her service to the arts through her philanthropic support, governance roles and advocacy.
