Limelight notes the passing of the popular conductor and pianist (Robert) Andrew Greene, who died on Sunday, aged 66.

“We have lost one of our finest musical lights,” wrote singer, pianist and teacher Anne-Maree McDonald in a social media tribute.

“Everyone who knew him and worked with him will remember him as a passionate and brilliant pianist, conductor, orchestrator, accompanist and friend, who spoke of his love for music, the piano, Puccini and Gilbert & Sullivan until his final breaths.”

Conductor Brian Castles-Onion wrote: “The passing of our colleague and friend, Andrew Greene, has saddened the musical industry in Australia.”

Stephen Mould, Senior Lecturer in Conducting at Sydney Conservatorium of Music, was saddened to report the news to colleagues and students.
