Australian conductor Ingrid Martin has been appointed Assistant Conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Taking up the position in September 2025, Martin will double as the Phillip and Lauren Fisher Community Ambassador and Music Director of the Detroit Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Martin is an accomplished Australian conductor who this year made her conductorial debuts with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria. She also returned to lead performances at the Christchurch, Queensland and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Auckland Philharmonia, with whom she was appointed New Zealand Assistant Conductor in Residence in 2024.
