Darlinghurst Theatre Company has today been placed into voluntary administration and will cease all trading until further notice.

The company was established in 1993 by Glenn Terry. Known to locals as the Darlo, it has been housed at the Eternity Playhouse since 2013, after moving from the venue now used by Hayes Theatre Co.

As recently as March this year, the company was searching for a new Executive Director. “Darlinghurst Theatre Company has weathered a ‘perfect storm’ where its future was in doubt but has survived,” the advertisement read.

In April, it announced it was supporting the development of a Sex. Riot. Repeat., a new work created by Felicity Nicol for Fruit Box Theatre.

Jonathon Keenan and Peter Krejci from business recovery specialist BRI Ferrier have been appointed Joint & Several Administrators and are “exploring all options to save or restructure the business”.
