The Australian Music Centre has announced that the 2023 Peggy Glanville-Hicks Address will be delivered by Elena Kats-Chernin.

Named in honour of one of Australia’s great international composers, The Peggy Glanville-Hicks Address offers a platform for an outstanding advocate of Australian music to raise contemporary issues and debates in music, and challenge the status quo.

Established in 1999, is it regarded as the single most important national forum for contemporary music discourse. Among the previous speakers are luminaries such as Liza Lim, Robyn Archer, Warren Burt, Sandy Evans, Roland Peelman and Deborah Cheetham Fraillon. Kats-Chernin has forged a formidable musical career, having written music in nearly every genre, including scores for orchestra, chamber ensemble, choirs, as well as for film, theatre, and dance. The Peggy Glanville-Hicks Address will provide a forum for her to share her rich perspectives and unique experiences as a working composer.
