Tasmania’s Festival of Voices has announced Shaun Rennie as its incoming Artistic Director.

Taking the reins from Isobel Marmion, Rennie brings his experience as a director of opera, musical theatre and large-scale events to Festival of Voices, which celebrated its 20th year in July 2025. 

“With a background that spans from performer to director, Shaun brings a collaborative and holistic approach to artistic leadership – one that celebrates the power of the collective voice and the transformative joy of performance,” wrote an FoV spokesperson.

Currently an Associate Director at Opera Australia, Rennie’s recent projects include Guys and Dolls on Sydney Harbour (Opera Australia), Switzerland (Ensemble Theatre) and the Australian national tour of Rent. He directed the world premiere season of The Lovers for Bell Shakespeare, OA’s New Year’s Eve Gala (2023), Opera Up Late for World Pride and Mad Scenes with Jessica Pratt.

He has also served as Revival Director for La bohème (2022–2023) and Aida, Assistant Director for The Phantom of the Opera on Sydney Harbour, and Assistant Director for The Tales of Hoffmann and Il trovatore.
