Following record-breaking, sold-out seasons in London and across the UK, the award-winning revival of Fiddler on the Roof will premiere in Sydney ahead of seasons in Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.
Leading the production as Tevye is Australian and West End performer Troy Sussman, whose 40-year career spans productions including Les Misérables, Sunset Boulevard, Back to the Future and Disney’s Aladdin. Sussman takes on the iconic role of the milkman navigating tradition and change in the fictional village of Anatevka.

Australian screen and stage star Sigrid Thornton joins the cast as Yente, marking her first starring role in a musical in more than a decade. It also marks a return to Anatevka for Thornton; she performed opposite Anthony Warlow in the Australian production of Fiddler on the Roof in 2015.
Alexis Fishman will play Golde. Freya Boltman features as Tzeitel, Ellen Ebbs as Hodel, and Caity Plummer as Chava. Violinist Ben Adler appears as The Fiddler.
Director Jordan Fein said the Australian audition process revealed “world-class” talent, adding he was “overjoyed” to assemble the company for the production’s continued life.
First seen in London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2024, the production transferred to the Barbican, becoming the venue’s best-selling musical of all time and earning three Olivier Awards, including Best Musical Revival.
Fiddler on the Roof plays at the Theatre Royal, Sydney, 31 July – 3 October; Glasshouse Theatre, QPAC, Brisbane from 9 October; and Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne from 31 October. Perth season dates to be announced.
