A new independent musical has stolen the spotlight at this year’s Performing Arts WA Awards, held on Monday 7 April at the Heath Ledger Theatre.

Same Time Next Week, written and directed by Scott McArdle and produced in collaboration with The Blue Room Theatre and Nick Pages-Oliver, was the runaway success of the evening, claiming eight awards including Best Production (Musicals & Opera), Outstanding New Work, and multiple performance accolades.

Celebrating excellence in professional live performance across Western Australia, the 2025 Awards recognised outstanding work staged during 2024 in mainstage and independent theatre, dance, musicals, opera, and cabaret. The annual event is hosted by the Artist Relief Fund WA, a charity supporting arts workers facing hardship, and continues to be supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the Arts & Culture Trust.
