The Melbourne Recital Centre (MRC) has announced that Marshall McGuire will step down from the position of Director of Programming in February.

McGuire began as Director of Programming in 2015. In the role, he established both the Learning and Access program and the Artist in Residence program (with Melbourne icon Robin Fox as resident in its ninth year in 2025) and championed the programming of First Nations artists.
MRC has recognised McGuire’s “swift response” during the COVID pandemic with the launch of digital concerts and artist support initiatives, as well as his commitment to “artistic diversity and community engagement”.
“Marshall has led with heart, passion and artistic proficiency, while building and nurturing meaningful relationships with our diverse community of artists, donors, audiences and more,” said MRC CEO Sandra Willis.
“While he will be deeply missed, we look forward to watching him return to the stage as the ARIA Award-winning harpist he is, as well as pursuing other creative projects.”
McGuire is a harpist and artistic leader who specialises in Baroque and contemporary music.
