SeasonPreview: Your guide to the arts in 2025

The Melbourne Chamber Orchestra has revealed its 2025 orchestral season, featuring five concerts, three world premiere works and a host of esteemed guest artists to feature throughout its 34th year.

“I am thrilled to introduce MCO’s 2025 season to you – concerts to inspire and ignite your imagination. The poetry of music allows all of us to share these mesmerising moments in time,” said Artistic Director and violinist Sophie Rowell.

“Our season will uncover hidden gems, highlighting composers and breathing life into works deserving of a prominent place in our repertoire.”

Daybreak (6–9 March), kicks off the season with a bang: the world premiere of Melbourne composer Matt Laing’s This waking moment. Guest artist David Griffiths takes the lead in an arrangement of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto next to George Walker’s Lyric for Strings and Ravel’s Petite Symphonie à cordes.
