The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) has partnered with the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) to launch a new in-house record label, part of a bilateral agreement announced last year that aims to expand the MSO’s international reach to more than 200 countries while showcasing Australian musicians, artists and composers.
The partnership launches as Sir Simon Rattle conducts the LSO in Melbourne.

LSO Live, Managing Director Kathryn McDowell said, “We are delighted to partner with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra to help realise their own ambitions and produce recordings that capture the performances they bring to the stage.”
McDowell and MSO Managing Director Sophie Galaise formalised the partnership during a signing ahead of the current LSO tour.
“LSO Live is a global industry leader and for more than two decades has been instrumental in revitalising the market for classical music internationally,” said Galaise. “The launch of the MSO label, in partnership with LSO Live, is a pivotal moment in our evolution and heralds a vibrant and exciting new era of sharing our own performances.”
