Music Australia has today announced the inaugural recipients of the Core Contribution Fund.

Over $2 million has been given to Australian contemporary music organisations in order to “strengthen core operations and professional skills development” within 17 contemporary music organisations, supporting artists and workers across the fields of children’s music, jazz, musical theatre, country and folk, and screen composition.

The Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) is one of the organisations that has earned inaugural funding. The “only dedicated hub for professional screen composers in Australia”, the Guild offers support to both emerging and established artists with a range of events, resources and professional development opportunities.

Sydney Improvised Music Association (SIMA) is also amongst the recipients.  The organisation supports contemporary jazz and improvised music across both Sydney and Australian through commissioning and concert presentation, and hosts the annual Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival.
