Adrian Collette, Chief Executive Officer of soon to be Creative Australia, has announced appointments by Tony Burke, Minister for the Arts, to the newly minted Music Australia Council.

The appointments take effect on 24 August and are: singer and songwriter Sophie Payten (AKA Gordi); veteran music promoter Michael Chugg; Future Classic founder and CEO Nathan McLay; Fred Alale, co-Founder and Chair of African Music and Cultural Festival Inc; Lisa Baker, Manager of Creative Cultural Development, Northern Sound System, Creative Precinct City of Playford, South Australia; Fred Leone, member of the Butchulla Songmen and Founder of Impossible Odds Records; Danielle Caruana, AKA Mama Kin, musician and co-Founder and Director of The Seed Fund, and Petrina Convey, owner and Director of UNITY. Mgmt Group, an Australian artist management company.

Collette, who will serve as Chairperson said: “Music Australia will support and promote the Australian contemporary music industry to increase discoverability and develop markets and audiences. It will invest to stimulate a vibrant and sustainable music industry ecosystem in which artists can thrive.”
