The ABC has announced that Philip Noyce has been appointed the new Head of ABC Classic and ABC Jazz. He will take the reins of the newly-established position in the coming months, joining the ABC Audio Leadership team.

Noyce is a cellist, author and music executive who held the position of Managing Editor at Classic FM since 2020 after starting there in 2007. He has served as judge for the Royal Philharmonic Society Awards an the Royal Television Society Awards and  penned a series of books for young children to help them engage with classical music, including The Very Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.

Classic FM is most popular classical music radio station in the UK and boasts of a listenership of 4.7 million people weekly. In his time there, Noyce established a series of live concerts at Royal Albert Hall and founded the station’s first televised broadcast partnership.
