Alice Herz-Sommer, the world’s oldest Holocaust survivor, proves an inspiration in a new documentary.

At 109-years-old, Alice Herz-Sommer is the second oldest person living in London and the world’s oldest survivor of the Holocaust. Three years ago she was the subject of a film by Christopher Nupen and now she’s been captured in another documentary by Oscar-winning filmmaker Malcolm Clarke.

During the Second World War she saw her mother and her husband put on the transports to Auschwitz while she, along with her six-year-old son, Raphael, was imprisoned in the Theresienstadt concentration camp. Before the war she was a renowned recitalist but now Alice lives alone in her tiny flat in central London where she still spends hours each day at her piano, practicing her beloved Bach and Beethoven.
