In a unusual move from an orchestra confident in its ability to deliver the feels, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra has announced that audience members who have felt nothing during one of its concerts — “not even a single flicker of emotion” — will be entitled to a full refund.

“We’re not kidding,” say the TSO. The offer (a “feel more guarantee”) applies to every TSO concert in 2025, though excludes concerts in its school series, its Halloween Spooktacular and Christmas Crackers performances. Terms and conditions apply, naturally, and refunds must be claimed within seven days from the date of the concert, with proof-of-purchase required.

While most other orchestras and ensembles adhere to what is essentially a no-refunds policy (unless an event is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly re-located, as outlined in the LPA Ticketing Code of Practice), TSO is going out on a limb. All the emotionally unmoved customer has to do is “simply explain the reasons why you genuinely didn’t feel anything to our passionate, understanding team.”
