International violin star Patricia Kopatchinskaja’s June-July tour with the Australian Chamber Orchestra has been cancelled due to an injury.
Kopatchinskaja (PatKop to her legion of fans) was due to play Ravel’s showpiece Tzigane, her own arrangement of Schubert’s Death and the Maiden and unveil a brand new self-composed piece, Danses Macabre with the ACO.
She is also the cover star of Limelight’s June issue. “Expect the unexpected”, wrote Clive Paget in his feature story and PatKop has certainly delivered.
Somewhat prophetically, Kopatchinskaja, 48, also confessed that “Everything that I plan goes wrong.”

The ACO expressed its “disappointment” in sharing the news, adding that “the Orchestra is thrilled to present an updated program, ACO Unleashed, that, in the spirit of its 50th anniversary season, celebrates the extraordinary virtuosity, blistering dynamism and brilliant musicality of its own musicians.”
