The Queensland Symphony Orchestra has revealed its 2025 season, with “spirituality and the world beyond” as its core, says Chief Conductor, Umberto Clerici.
“This program explores beauty, transcendence and inspiration but also brutality and primal instincts,” said Clerici of what will be his third year leading the orchestra.

Arriving at the end of a three-year arc of programs, the 2025 season places a focus on 20th century music, looking at modernism, expressionism and post-Romanticism. It comes in the wake of explorations of Classical and Romantic music in Clerici’s previous seasons.
QSO’s Opening Gala’s centrepiece is The Rite Of Spring, which Clerici says is “probably the most revolutionary work of the 20th century”. For performance across 20–22 February, the QSO will partner with contemporary circus company Circa to “bring this concert to life.” This year’s artist-in-residence, violinist Kristian Winther, is also set to make an appearance on the program alongside works by Verdi, Hans Zimmer and more.
