Queensland Symphony Orchestra has today announced that Michael Sterzinger has been appointed Chief Executive, commencing in November this year.

The appointment of CEO marks Sterzinger’s return to the QSO after previously working in Artistic Planning with the orchestra from 2013–2021.
“I look forward to working closely with the musicians, team, Board and QSO partners and stakeholders to share our passion for music and to create beautiful and immersive experiences for our audiences,” he said.
Sterzinger, a musician who has performed as a professional tuba player in orchestras around Europe, brings over 20 years of orchestral management experience into the role. He holds a degree in Arts Management from the Hamburg University of Music and Drama.
After holding roles within orchestras and arts organisations throughout Germany, Sterzinger moved to Australia in 2009 and began work with Queensland Youth Orchestra. In 2021, he was appointed the Executive Director of Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra. He also currently performs with the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra.
