The Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO) has announced the appointment of Mackay-born violinist Glenn Christensen as its new Associate Concertmaster.

Christensen returns to the orchestra after an international career that has seen him perform as a soloist, chamber musician and guest principal with leading ensembles across Europe and Australia.

From 2020 to 2025 he was Deputy Concertmaster and Principal Second Violin with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. Prior to that, he was a full-time member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra (2014–20) and held the role of Principal First Violin with QSO between 2012 and 2014.

His guest appearances have included concertmaster and director roles with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Le Cercle de l’Harmonie in Paris, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and QSO, and as Principal Second Violin with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Raised in Mackay, Christensen began violin studies with local Suzuki teacher Diane Powell before continuing at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, where he studied with Michele Walsh and graduated in 2011 with First Class Honours.
