A Brisbane string quartet of teenage musicians will travel to Far North Queensland in July after winning a national chamber music competition, with new philanthropic backing helping propel the ensemble onto a major festival stage.
The group, The IncrediBows, recently took out Musica Viva Australia’s Strike A Chord national competition and will now participate in the Australian Festival of Chamber Music’s Pathways Program in Cairns from 24 July to 1 August.
Comprising Ein Na (17), Eric Kim (17), and brothers Haydn Li (18) and George Li (15), the quartet formed in 2022 and developed through school music-making and the Queensland Youth Orchestra.
