Artistic Director Slava Grigoryan has a few more surprises in store for guitar fans this July.

Artistic Director Slava Grigoryan today announced the full line up for the 2014 Adelaide International Guitar Festival.

For fans of flamenco, this year’s festival will kick off with the José Antonio Rodríguez Trio in a dynamic celebration of traditional Spanish music and supported by local Flamenco company Areti. Rodríguez, a popular fixture at the Córdoba Guitar Festival, is a composer and performer of international renown who won his first flamenco prize aged 17.

Equally exciting is the closing event which will feature the inaugural Adelaide Guitar Festival Orchestra, made up of 50 school children from across South Australia. Handpicked by Grigoryan and Brisbane-based guitar ensemble specialist Paul Svoboda, orchestra members are aged nine to 18, and will be joined by 25 young players from Svoboda’s Brisbane-based Aurora Guitar Ensemble. Both Slava and Leonard Grigoryan will perform solos with the 75-strong ensemble.
