Selby & Friends is on a roll. Currently on the road with its third tour for 2026, Kathyrn Selby’s chamber music series is already looking to the year ahead.

From a Beethoven celebration to hidden classical gems, Selby & Friends’ 2027 program celebrates the diversity of chamber music across five national tours with concerts in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Turramurra and NSW’s Southern Highlands. Next year features 12 internationally acclaimed guests, with four joining for the first time.

“This is an outstanding season of varied programs and stunning guest artists,” said Selby.

“As always, the programs have been a fascinating collaborative effort which includes many favourites while introducing some rarely heard gems, an important element in each season.”

The season begins off in February with Sydney Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Andrew Haveron and the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s Principal Cello, Timo-Veikko Valve. In Honouring The Master, Selby and strings deliver “a loving tribute” to Beethoven to mark the 200th anniversary of his death with three Piano Trios from his middle period – the Sixth and Seventh (Archduke), and his single-movement Piano Trio in B-flat major from 1812.

Bold Beginnings in May sees violinist Natalie Chee and Clancy Newman reunite to showcase the first piano trios of Beethoven, Arensky and Shostakovich – from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries respectively.

“These youthful works could not be more different and showcase how each composer approached the formidable genre of the piano trio,” said Selby.

Old friends violinist Daniel Dodds and cellist Julian Smiles are Selby’s partners for July’s Echoes of Time, featuring an arrangement of Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin, Dvořák’s Dumky Trio and a rare gem: Babajanyan’s Piano Trio.

Across August and September, Shadows & Song celebrates the melody and colour of trio works by Brahms, Mendelssohn and Ernest Bloch. Violinist Susie Park returns to the S&F season as American cellist Camden Shaw and UK-born Principal Horn of the SSO, Sam Jacobs, join for the first time.

The season closes with The Romance of Dreams across November. Clarinettist David Griffiths and violinist Amalia Hall make their debut alongside Smiles for a program that celebrates the world of the high Romantics: Clara Schumann’s Three Romances, Brahms’ Clarinet Trio and Schumann’s Piano Trio No. 1, paired with Peter Sculthorpe’s Dream Tracks.
