Cellist Simon Cobcroft has been appointed Artistic Director of the popular Coriole Music Festival, commencing his three-year tenure in 2023. He succeeds pianist Anna Goldsworthy, who has held the position since 2019.

“I am thrilled to be the next Artistic Director of the wonderful Coriole Music Festival!” Cobcroft said.

“For almost a quarter of a century, superb musicians from Australia and further afield have come together at Coriole to challenge and delight audiences with boldly curated programs, combining the familiar and much loved with the rare, the new and the undiscovered.”

A diverse performer, Cobcroft has held prestigious positions in Australian and international orchestras, including Associate Principal Cello with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Sub-Principal Cello with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as currently performing with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra as Principal Cello. He has performed at home and internationally as a soloist, and been featured as both orchestral principal and chamber musician in the Aldeburgh, Pacific and Salzburg Music Festivals.
