SeasonPreview: Your guide to the arts in 2025

Sydney Dance Company has launched its 2025 season, a line-up of new works and acclaimed past performances. Titled Come Closer, the season features works by the company’s Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela, new works from former Bangarra Dance Theatre Artistic Director Stephen Page and dance artist-choreographer Tra Mi Dinh, and the return of the company’s New Breed series.

A Sensual Start: Somos

The season opens with Bonachela’s Somos, which enjoyed a sold-out run in 2023 and received a five-star review from Limelight.

Set to premiere at Melbourne’s Arts Centre from March 13 before returning to Sydney’s Neilson Studio from March 27, Somos offers an intimate, immersive experience for audiences.

Meaning “we are” in Spanish, the piece is a cascade of solos, duets, and trios set to music by Hispanic artists, performed in the round in thrilling proximity to the viewer.
