The Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) has announced the recipients of its 2023 Fellowship program.

Featured as performers last weekend at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music’s Composing Women concert, 10 young musicians will receive musical and professional mentorship, participate in masterclasses, and perform in orchestral and chamber music settings over its year-long program.

Each musician – all under the age of 25 – will also work individually with a musician from the orchestra of the same instrument.

“The Sydney Symphony Fellowship program has been an integral part of the Orchestra since its inception in 2001,” said SSO violist Stuart Johnson, himself an alumni of the program.

“It has been the training ground for many professional musicians to hone and refine their craft and today, the orchestra features many graduates of the program as permanent members, including myself.
