Violinist Sercan Danis has joined the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) as Tutti First Violin. A regular contract player with the orchestra for the past two years, Danis previously held the position of Associate Concertmaster of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

Born in Türkiye, Danis studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under teachers including Alice Waten, Goetz Richter and Wanda Wilkomirska. He went on to study with Emanuel Borok (former Concertmaster of the Moscow Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra) at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He completed his Performance Diploma in 2013.
Danis was a founding member of the Altius Quartet and was active with the ensemble between 2011 – 2014. After performing in masterclasses with the Takacs, Guarneri, Shanghai, Borodin, Miro, and Artemis String Quartets, he was invited to study with the Takacs Quartet but decided to pursue an orchestral career. While in the United States, he held the position of Assistant Concertmaster with the Irving Symphony, and was a substitute member with the Atlanta and Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
