The opera will be staged on a platform moored off the Royal Botanic Gardens in March 2012. ”The grandeur and majestic beauty of Sydney Harbour is the perfect backdrop for this spectacular opera,” Ms Keneally said. The set will feature a giant chandelier and fireworks. The opera will be performed 22 times over a six-week season, with more than 60,000 tickets going on sale. The event, to be held annually, is expected to bring more than $20 million to NSW.
