Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2023

The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2023 season, featuring a diverse selection of repertoire to be performed with familiar and new guest performers in celebration of the orchestra’s 75th anniversary. 

“It’s a season that celebrates our versatility and artistry,” said Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Eivind Aadland, whose partnership with TSO was extended until 2026 in August this year.

To mark the occasion, Aadland will be leading a Gala concert, hosted at Federation Concert Hall in Hobart on 25 March featuring music by Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov. Soloist Lukáš Vondráček will join the orchestra for Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No 1. “The 47-piece TSO will be augmented by musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music for this gala celebration, giving us the capacity to program Rachmaninov’s dazzling Symphonic Dances,” said Aadland.
