The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Chorus has announced it will be heading to the UK for  a series of performances in April.

Under the direction of Chorusmaster Warren Trevelyan-Jones, the 46-member Chorus begins a 15-day tour at the Birmingham Symphony Hall on 16 April, performing with Australian soprano Eleanor Lyons, the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and COBO Chorus.

The Chorus will also perform at Gloucester Cathedral (21 April), Worcester Cathedral  (22–23 April) and will deliver two performances on ANZAC Day (25 April) at London’s Westminster Abbey and then the Australian High Commission for Australian and New Zealand dignitaries.

At the Westminster Abbey and Gloucester and Worcester Cathedral performances, the TSO Chorus will offer audiences a selection of music from Australian composers including Joseph Twist and Frederick Septimus Kelly.

London-born Trevelyan-Jones was a Tenor Lay Vicar for nine years with the Choir of Westminster Abbey. “For me it’s nice to be taking our Chorus home, not just to Westminster Abbey but to my formative years where I grew up,” he says.
