Bah, humbug! Sledding its way back onto the Melbourne stage for the fourth year running, this West End adaptation of Charles Dickens’ definitive festive classic is quickly establishing itself as an unmissable Christmas tradition.
With its balance of gritty gothic themes, immersive theatrical magic, and uplifting spirit – this show has the power to convert even the grumpiest Grinches and most cynical critics out there (and yes, despite the lack of puppets, it absolutely holds a candle to the timeless The Muppets Christmas Carol).

Audiences enter the Comedy Theatre draped under a glowing canopy of Victorian lanterns, bump into actors roaming the aisles and playing hand bells in era-appropriate (also climate-appropriate) costumes, to be dazzled by the gorgeous staging – a rich void of inky blue punctured by the yellow, star-like glow of all those lanterns. However, it is Dickens’ timeless writing, and this cast and crew’s dedication and professionalism in bringing the story to life, that truly makes this a spectacular theatrical experience.
