S. Shakthidharan and Eamon Flack’s sweeping drama has won the $100,000 Victorian Prize for Literature.

The musical American Psycho leads the pack with nine awards, with Sydney Theatre Company’s The Beauty Queen of Leenane also highly honoured.

It’s closely followed by Hayes Theatre Co’s American Psycho and Belvoir and Co-Curious’ Counting and Cracking, both with nine nods each.

Sydney Theatre Company has received 11 awards in total.

Sydney Theatre Company leads the charge this year, becoming the first ever company to make a clean sweep of the Best Mainstage Production category.

Muriel’s Wedding takes home seven awards, followed closely by Hir and A View From the Bridge.
