When the patriarch of a world-famous pub franchise dies suddenly, his ambitious children fight for power over a birthright they haven’t really earned at all.

Should one of them inherit the business just because their blood is special? Will the manager still make all the actual decisions? And if the family’s role in the franchise is mostly just symbolic (though very good for tourism), does it even matter?

“Buckingham’s Chalice” is a two-act comedy about family, inheritance, and the role of the monarchy in Australia in the 21st century. It’s a great night at the theatre for anyone who’s ever won (or lost) a pub quiz, had an argument with a stubborn sibling, or thought “what the hell are they doing” when some strange Royal Family ceremony makes international news.
