Five musicians from four Australian cities, now based in Melbourne, come together to perform two piano quintets including double bass. Rollin Zhao (violin/viola), Josef Hanna (violin/viola), Caleb Wong (cello), Rowan Swarbrick (double bass), and Chai Jie Low (piano) showcase the unique textural possibilities of a seldom-heard instrumental combination with Schubert’s well-loved ‘Trout’ Quintet featuring variations on his art song ‘Die Forelle’, followed by Vaughan William’s richly passionate Piano Quintet in C minor.
