Experience the next generation of Australia’s finest jazz players when the Sydney Youth Jazz Orchestra (SYJO) Big Band & Spectra Jazz Orchestra perform a double bill at the Lounge for a night of fun and a diverse range of jazz with an emphasis on adventurous Australian music, including music composed by their band members. Expect standards and surprising new favourites in a program that will include works by the late, great Judy Bailey, Ellen Kirkwood and the tremendous emerging composer Katie Bombardieri.

Spectra Jazz Orchestra is a vibrant 17-piece youth ensemble comprised of talented young women and gender diverse musicians taking inspiration by incredible jazz orchestras such as the Maria Schneider Orchestra, Count Basie Orchestra, and the Sirens Big Band. Performing recently at the Manly Jazz Festival, both SYJO and Spectra are premier youth ensembles providing young musicians with opportunities to perform sophisticated jazz repertoire in a large ensemble setting.
