Australian National Academy of Music: MSO & ANAM: Great Passions – Radulović plays Khachaturian
21 May @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm AEST

If you’re the type of listener who likes to experience the full force of the orchestra, this concert is for you. The Hamer Hall stage will be packed with musicians from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra performing alongside next-generation talent from the Australian National Academy of Music. The colossal scale of this combined ensemble will envelop you in the sounds of Shostakovich’s Symphony No.4. The composer declared his work be a product of his “great thoughts and great passions”. So great were those passions that his symphony inspired both awe and controversy, delaying its premiere by more than two decades. It has survived many decades more.
Before this epic collaboration, Nemanja Radulović takes centre stage with the MSO in Khachaturian’s Violin Concerto — a work that fuses Armenian folk influences with Western classical traditions, and one of the Serbian-French violinist’s signature pieces. Chief Conductor Jaime Martín will lead the way.
