Parrtjima: Paul & Roland Ah Chee
12 April @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm ACST
Paul Ah Chee
Local Arrernte songwriter and storyteller Paul Ah Chee returns to the Parrtjima stage for a powerful one-night-only performance alongside his son, Roland Ah Chee. Curated especially for the festival, this intimate set weaves Paul’s rich musical history with the energy of the next generation.
In a rare gathering of Arrernte talent, Paul will be joined by a lineup of special guests to revisit the iconic songs of his former band Amunda, alongside his solo compositions.
Together, they create a moving soundscape that celebrates Country, culture, and community under the desert night sky. Don’t miss this unforgettable performance from one of Mparntwe’s most distinctive musical voices.
Roland Ah Chee
Roland Ah Chee is a musician born and raised in Mparntwe (Alice Springs). He was the rhythm guitarist for First Nations soul/hip-hop duo Marlon X Rulla, performing on some of Australia’s most prominent stages including BASSINTHEGRASS (Darwin), WOMADelaide, AFL Sir Douglas Nicholls Round, Treaty Day Out and Spin Off Festival.
Roland’s musical direction has been deeply influenced by his father, Paul Ah Chee, and his band Amunda. Growing up immersed in the songs and stories of desert soul, this influence has come full circle, with Roland now often performing as lead guitarist in Paul’s band. Moving from listener to collaborator, he plays both Paul’s recent catalogue and the original songs he grew up with, bringing a contemporary edge to a classic sound his father helped pioneer.
