The tragicomedy is set in Truvy’s beauty parlour in a small Southern town in Louisiana, where a group of women support each other through life’s ups and downs. The 1989 film featured a starry cast including Shirley MacLaine, Dolly Parton and Julia Roberts, while Nicole Kidman made her professional stage debut in the 1988 Australian premiere. The top-notch cast of this new Australian production includes Mandy Bishop, Belinda Giblin, Debra Lawrence and Lisa McCune. Lee Lewis directs.
