The Concourse: Sydney Mozart Society – Selby & Friends
13 October @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm AEDT

Kathryn Selby AM, one of Australia’s highly acclaimed chamber musicians, closes our season at the end of her first year as Patron of the Society. Alexandra Osborne (violin) and Simon Cobcroft (cello) make up the trio. Both are relatively recently appointed to the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and also known as skilled, experienced chamber musicians. This concert promises a captivating journey through the expressive realm of piano trios by Mozart, Beethoven, and Mendelssohn. In Mozart’s K496 his genius shines in a virtuosic piano part and he elevates the other instruments to speak as equals. In Gassenhauer, Beethoven has the piano and clarinet engage in witty, playful conversation. Mendelssohn’s Opus 66 is dramatic and restless; an expression of Romantic intensity making high technical demands of the players.
