Join Performance Space and some of the country’s most exciting experimental sound artists to experience vocal performances that penetrate into spaces as yet unknown.

The Expanded Voice: Experimental Sound Showcase is the culmination of the Experimental Sound Program, a brand-new artist development program rooted in artistic discourse and our commitment to supporting communities of experimental practice.

In 2026, the program is curated by artist Frances Barrett and focuses on artists working at the intersection of performance and the voice. Titled The Expanded Voice, this inaugural program has invited artists; Archie Barry, Brian Fuata, Jane Sheldon, Joel Stern, Nicole Smede, Sage Pbbbt, Mara Schwerdtfeger and Sonya Holowell to undertake a process of exchange and new work development with each other and audiences.

This relaxed showcase will feature the program’s participating artists, offering a suite of performances that centre the unique ways in which they each work with the voice.
