Limelight Editor’s Choice

John Corigliano’s film score to The Red Violin (1998) is a certified modern masterpiece. TSO Concertmaster Emma McGrath performs its opening movement as she reunites with Australian conductor Nathan Aspinall, who is Resident Conductor of the famed Nashville Symphony. The pair last collaborated in the US in 2019.

Shostakovich’s Symphony No 1 is an astonishingly assured graduation piece written at the Petrograd Conservatory when the composer was just 19. Unbelievable.
