New Annual: Truck Driver by Soft Tread
26 September @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm AEST

Part comedy, part meditation on a changing Australia, Truck Driver is the latest genre-defying work from Jonny Hawkins and Nell Ranney fresh from its world premiere at the Sydney Opera House. Across one epic haul from cattle country to Uluru, the audience rides shotgun as Bev, expertly played by Hawkins, swings between rage and revelation, dirty jokes and devastating confessions. Belt up and strap in. And please, keep an eye out for roos.
Truck Driver is a solo theatrical experience that interrogates Australian masculinity with brutal honesty and unexpected grace. It’s a play about isolation and connection, about the violence men inherit and the tenderness they bury, about what it means to keep driving when you’re not sure there’s anywhere left to go.
Strap in. It’s going to be a bumpy ride because the road doesn’t care who you are. It just keeps rolling.
