Dawson Society: Wounded by Beauty
9 October @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm AEDT

The Magnificat, or Canticle of Mary, is one of the most ancient Christian hymns. Recited daily in liturgical prayer, it has inspired artists and musicians of all periods.
Join us the 9th of October 7:30pm at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Scarborough
Acclaimed chamber choir Aurora will sing three settings of the Magnificat from across the centuries:
• Gregorian chant (medieval)
• William Byrd (1549)
• Arvo Pärt (1989)
Each piece will be introduced by Emeritus Professor John Kinder FAHA OSI. The choir will sing excerpts during the introductions to familiarise the audience with each piece and increase the listening pleasure during the performance.
