Camerata, the Lyrebird trio, Andrew Goodwin and Louise King are just some of the artists coming to the festival this year.
I’ve co-directed Tyalgum Music Festival since 2014, each year trying to create a balance of high calibre ticketed concerts with great Australian classical performers as well as exciting outdoor community events, sound installations, music-making all over town, a mix of musical genres and building on a classical music festival that has run for 26 years. Over the last couple of years we’ve had street closures and musical happenings with iconic musician, Jon Rose, involving the Song Company and many others, a large scale community music event with composer Cathy Milliken and Ensemble Offspring that brought many stories from the region to musical life. Composer Damian Barbeler brought his light and music activated Sound Bubble to the main street of Tyalgum and composer/performer Cor Fuhler set up a large sound installation on the main oval all weekend.
