About to return to Australia for the first time since 2012, guitarist Miloš Karadaglić – it’s just Miloš these days, such is his fame – is playing a series of recitals in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

Limelight caught up with Miloš (while on tour in Barcelona), to chat about the intervening years and what he’s learned about himself as a musician in what he describes as “a very intense time”.

Everything is back to ‘normal’ after the COVID hiatus. Are you one of those people who have created a ‘new normal’ or have things returned to where they were? Did any positives come out of your pandemic experience?

We definitely live in a new normal! It’s not very consistent in terms of audience. Sometimes, the audiences are many, sometimes a few. But I find it fascinating to see how other sectors are in an upward trajectory. People have never wanted more experiences. The travel industry, food, entertainment … those sectors are really thriving. It’s quite disappointing to see that classical music is still, if I’m very honest, struggling in a lot of places.
