A 14-year old violinist from Brisbane has won the 2023 National Young Virtuoso of the Year.

Ein Na has received a $5,000 cash prize for her victory. She represented Brisbane’s 4MBS Classic FM, where the competition was also hosted.

The National Young Virtuoso Award is jointly presented by the MBS network – 2MBS Fine Music Sydney, 3MBS Melbourne, Artsound FM, 4MBS Classic FM and Adelaide’s 5MBS. Each station hosts an individual state competition, whose winners go on to compete in the final round. It awards a classical instrumentalist under the age of 25, or a classical singer under 30.

The other finalists were alto saxophonist Tom Lowe, classical guitarist Connor White, violinist Teresa Yang and pianist Jenny Su.

Na, a student of Spiros Rantos, has already toured Europe as a soloist with the Tagiev Chamber Orchestra.
